If Lincoln's Gettysburg address was one of the greatest speeches ever made, one of the worst would have to be that given by Kwesei Mfume.
Mfume, then-president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), re-wrote biblical history, insulted Catholic University and Catholics in general, and declared that then-Pope John Paul II guilty of the "crime of silence!"
Mfume offered all of this in a heated style with enough grammatical errors to make a grade school teacher cringe. It's bizarre, funny and ultimately sad. It is also clear that NAACP officials are rather confused about their position and activity relating to abortion.
